What to Expect When You Visit Collegeville Church of Christ
When you visit either of our Sunday worship services, you can expect to find a simple worship service that adheres to the teachings of the New Testament.
When we assemble on every Lord's Day (Acts 20:7), which is Sunday, we will worship God as follows:
Singing: The whole congregation joins together in praising God in song without the use of musical instruments (Ephesians 5:19, Colossians 3:16). In case anyone is unfamiliar with one of the songs, the words are available in our songbooks books located in the back of the pews. Feel free to join in and sing along with us if you so desire.
Praying: We are led by different men in our congregation (1 Timothy 2:1-8).
Preaching: We will enjoy a Bible message that lasts about 30 minutes (Acts 2:42; Romans 10:14) led most Sundays by Bro. Carter Ross Jr., our ministering evangelist. All lessons are Bible based and easy to follow.
Giving: Each member of this congregation contributes weekly to the work of the church as the Lord has prospered them (1 Corinthians 16:2).
Taking Communion: Each Sunday, members remember the death of Jesus Christ by eating unleavened bread and drinking fruit of the vine (Acts 20:7). We sit quietly for a few minutes and reflect on how magnificent it is that God so loved us so much that he gave his own Son for us!
Wednesday Night Bible Study
Our Wednesday evening service begins at 6:30 P.M. with everyone meeting in the sanctuary. We sing a song, followed by a prayer. After a prayer, we begin our bible study for the evening which lasts about 50 minutes.
It is by these studies we learn more about God’s word and grow into the children of God He desires us to be. This is also a time we encourage one another to remain strong in this Christian journey. (John 5:39- Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.)
God’s word is very important to us and you will find that it is what our faith is based on. We accept the Word of God to be everything we need to guide the Collegeville Church of Christ into all truth, direction, obedience and faith. (2 Timothy 3:14-15)
Becoming a Christian
If you're interested in becoming a Christian, we would love to share the word of God with you in a Bible study. We are saved by the grace of God. (Ephesians 2:7-10).
God has given us His redemptive plan:
One must hear the word of God. Acts 15:7
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of the Living God (Hebrews 11:6).
One must repent of their sins and then give their lives to Him. (Luke 13:3).
We confess our faith in Jesus Christ (Romans 10:9-10)
Then take the free gift of salvation as we are baptized into Christ for the forgiveness of our sins (Acts 2:38; Romans 6:1-5).
As Christians, we do our best to live for Jesus; at times we disappoint him. We receive our encouragement from the relationships with one another in the Church and as we worship God on a regular basis.
If you have any questions about New Testament teachings, please feel free to contact us. We would be thrilled with the opportunity to get to know you better and to talk to you about what the Lord has in store for you.
